Nicole Carey

District 5

Running unopposed in Dist. 5, Nicole Carey is the founder of an organization committed to helping schools and companies create equitable and inclusive environments. She is also the proud mom of five children, three of whom are school-age and attend IPS. As a school board member, Nicole told parents through her endorsement survey that she will focus on racial equity, language justice and ensuring community voices are listened to when considering plans for changes and improvements in IPS. Her top priority is ensuring every student in every ZIP code has access to a high-quality public school.

Nicole completed her survey in both English and Spanish, and our parent group truly appreciated her stance on ensuring every IPS family felt welcomed and heard, no matter their first language.

Focus on strategies to improve schools that are struggling to serve underserved children

Ensuring every student and parent who does not speak English as their first language can fully participate in the school community and feel welcomed

Listening to parents and community input when considering changes in IPS

“I believe parent involvement in these elections is so important. We want leaders who will make positive changes in IPS and will put kids first. It’s so important for our kids’ futures and I know we have picked the best candidates for our district and our students.”
